Laser Resurfacing
Laser Resurfacing in Miami: Smooth Texture & Scars
Whether it’s softening fine lines or fading old acne scars, laser resurfacing offers a clear path forward without invasive surgery.
It's not a one and done: Why multiple sessions are essential
Hair grows in cycles such as anagen (growth), catagen (transition), and telogen (resting). Laser hair removal is only effective in the anagen stage, when the follicle is active. That’s why we recommend at least 6–8 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart.
With each session, hair becomes finer and less dense. Some areas, like underarms and bikini lines, may respond faster, while hormonal regions such as the face might take longer.
How It Works
During a typical session at Lumea Med Spa, we use a fractional CO2 laser or erbium laser based on your skin type and treatment goals. These lasers create micro-injuries in the outer layer of skin, triggering your body to heal and regenerate stronger, smoother cells.
Most treatments take between 30 to 90 minutes, depending on the area being treated. And while you’ll feel some warmth or mild prickling sensations (we use numbing agents for comfort), the process is far gentler than it sounds.
Who is a Good Candidate for Laser Resurfacing?
If you’re between 30 and 65, chances are you’ve noticed more than a few signs of aging, uneven tone, or past skin damage. Laser resurfacing is ideal for healthy individuals looking to address:
Common Skin Concerns Treated
- Fine lines and wrinkles (especially around eyes and mouth)
- Age spots and sun damage
- Acne or surgical scars
- Uneven skin tone
- Large pores
- Rough or leathery skin
We often see women who’ve tried every topical remedy, from luxury creams to at-home peels, and are ready for longer-lasting results. If that sounds like you, laser resurfacing may deliver the transformation you’ve been searching for.
Different Types of Laser Treatments
At Lumea Med Spa, we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all skincare solutions. That's why we tailor every treatment to your goals and skin type, using cutting-edge technologies approved for both safety and effectiveness.
CO2 Fractional Laser
Erbium Laser
A gentler alternative to CO2, the Erbium laser is perfect for lighter resurfacing with minimal downtime. It still boosts collagen production but is often ideal for those with less severe skin concerns or sensitive skin.
Non-Ablative Lasers
These lasers target the deep layers of skin without removing the top layer. While results are more gradual, they involve virtually no downtime, appealing to clients with busy schedules.
What to Expect Before, During & After Treatment
Step 1: Consultation
We begin with a personalized consultation where one of our licensed specialists examines your skin and reviews your goals. Together, we select the best type of laser and treatment plan. You’ll receive pre-treatment instructions and a skincare regimen to prepare your skin.
Step 2: Treatment Day
You’ll arrive with clean skin. We apply a topical numbing cream and sterile protective eyewear. Using precise laser pulses, the specialist targets areas of concern. You’ll feel warmth and mild pressure, but most clients describe the process as tolerable and quick.
Step 3: Immediate Aftercare
You may experience redness or swelling similar to a sunburn, which typically subsides in a few days. We guide you through proper aftercare, including gentle cleansers, healing ointments, and SPF application. Avoiding sun exposure is crucial during this period.
Step 4: Healing & Results
Peeling and flakiness are normal as dead skin cells shed to reveal revitalized skin underneath. You could see improvements in as little as 7–10 days, with continued enhancements over the next few months as collagen levels increase.
Combining Treatments for Enhanced Results
Laser resurfacing pairs beautifully with other med spa services. For comprehensive rejuvenation, many of our clients choose to combine:
- Micro needling for deeper collagen production
- Chemical peels to brighten the surface
- Botox or fillers to combat dynamic wrinkles
We’ll build a phased plan based on your skin and timeline, making sure no procedure interferes with healing or results.
Risks & Recovery: What You Should Know
While laser resurfacing is generally safe when performed by trained professionals, it’s important to be informed:
Possible Side Effects
- Redness or swelling
- Skin crusting or peeling
- Temporary pigmentation changes
- Risk of infection (rare with proper aftercare)
Following medical guidance and prepping your skin in advance significantly reduces these risks. At Lumea, we emphasize pre- and post-care education as much as the treatment itself.
